The Vancouver Canucks have officially hit rock bottom two months into the National Hockey League's 2025-26 season and are in pole position for first overall in June.

After a ton of optimism in the offseason and promises that this season would be a lot different than last, the Vancouver Canucks find themselves in a very tough decision as we approach the two month mark of the 2025-26 campaign.
With ten wins through 27 games, the Vancouver Canucks are well aware of the hole they need to climb out of if they want to salvage their small chance to make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since the 2023-24 season.
"It stings. All of us are competitors and we expect better results for all the work that we're putting in. We've got to continue to grind through it . . . get back to work tomorrow. It's a big road trip for us. I still think we've got a lot of good pieces in this room. We've just got to put it together on a consistent basis." Sherwood said to Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre at the end of November.

Vancouver Canucks officially hit rock bottom in National Hockey League's standings

The Vancouver Canucks hit the ice for practice yesterday in preparation for the start of a four-game homestand on Friday night against the Utah Mammoth and Adam Foote's group knew there was a chance that they would wake up today in last place.
For that to happen, the Calgary Flames would have to beat the Minnesota Wild, while the Nashville Predators would have to defeat the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers and of course, both teams that Vancouver didn't want to win ultimately did.
The Calgary Flames pulled out a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild thanks to multi-point nights from Matt Coronato and Rasmus Andersson, while Steven Stamkos' overtime winner helped the Nashville Predators stun the Florida Panthers.
"It's official.

The #Canucks are last place in the NHL's overall standings (by points)." Rob Williams of Daily Hive shared on X.

With trade rumors floating around involving members of the Vancouver Canucks and now the team being in last place in the NHL's overall standings, it's not a great time to be a fan and it's still unclear of the direction Patrik Allvin & Jim Rutherford are taking this team.
Vancouver will look to begin their climb out of the NHL's basement tonight as they host the Utah Mammoth at Rogers Arena for a 6 p.m. PT puck drop, which can be seen throughout British Columbia on Sportsnet Pacific.
