The Vancouver Canucks have officially announced the hiring of three new Assistant Coaches who will be joining Adam Foote's bench for the 2025-26 NHL season.

Earlier this offseason, the Vancouver Canucks announced a change behind the bench with Adam Foote being promoted to the role of Head Coach following the departure of Rick Tocchet to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Since the promotion of Adam Foote, the organization has been searching for new Assistant Coaches to join his staff with Kevin Dean rumored to be hired by the club and on Thursday, Patrik Allvin officially announced that three new coaches will be added behind the bench.

Vancouver Canucks announce the hiring of three Assistant Coaches

In Thursday morning, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced that Kevin Dean, Brett McLean and Scott Young have been hired by the club in Assistant Coaching roles.
"The coaching search was a very thorough process as we wanted to find the best fit for our hockey club. Once Adam was hired, we set out on selecting a team of assistant coaches who are good teachers, good communicators, and good people. Footey has done a great job in assembling a well-rounded staff with a strong mix of experience and position specific expertise. I am excited to watch this group come together and am ready to support them in every way I can to help them prepare for the upcoming season." Allvin said.

Dean, 56, has spent the last eight seasons as an Assistant Coach in the National Hockey League with Boston and Chicago, helping the Bruins reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2019 and most recently, won gold with the United States at the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
McLean, 46, has been the Head Coach of the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild for the last two seasons, but also has three seasons of coaching experience as an assistant in the NHL with Minnesota.
Young, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, is getting his first crack in an Assistant Coaching role at the National Hockey League level after spending the last three seasons as the Director of Player Personnel for the Vancouver Canucks.

Patrik Allvin announces additional coaching changes

In addition to the hiring of Kevin Dean, Brett McLean and Scott Young on Thursday, Patrik Allvin also revealed that Assistant Coach Yogi Svejkovsky, Defensive Development Coach Sergei Gonchar and Video Coach Dylan Crawford will not be returning to the organization next season.
"The team also announced that Assistant Coach Yogi Svejkovský, Defensive Development Coach Sergei Gonchar, and Video Coach Dylan Crawford will not be returning to the team for the 2025.26 season. The Canucks would like to thank Yogi, Sergei and Dylan for all that they have done for the organization and wish them the best moving forward." the Canucks said.

Henrik & Daniel Sedin (Player Development Coaches), Marko Torenius (Goaltending Coach) and Jason Krog (Skills & Skating Coach) will all remain with the club, the team announced.
