The Vancouver Canucks have made a questionable decision sending defensemen Victor Mancini down to the AHL with the Abbotsford Canucks, the young prospect has shown a lot of promise but hasn't been given the opportunity.

Mancini will be joining struggling Abbotsford team, in which he was one of the biggest reasons why they won the Calder Cup last year.
"More than his modern day offense defenseman playstyle, Mancini brings a ton of size, mobility and NHL experience that has already sees him being ready to step into a big role for an NHL club. Most may see him topping out as a steady bottom-pair defender, but his play in the 2024-2025 Calder Cup Playoffs, he seems to have a way higher ceiling than originally touted."-Mitchell

Canucks demote Mancini to Abbotsford.

Tyson Cole of Canucks Army announced the roster move of Mancini, with the acquisition of David Kampf, the Canucks needed to make a spot on the roster for him, and Mancini was the odd man out.
"After signing David Kampf to a one-year, $1.1 million contract on Saturday, the Canucks had to make a roster move in order to fit the centreman in. Mancini, PO Joseph and Arshdeep Bains were the three healthy scratches for yesterday's contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and it's the 23-year-old blueliner who will report to Abbotsford."-Cole

It doesn't appear that Mancini is getting enough opportunity from the Canucks coaching staff, which is surprising because they are struggling with injuries, and Mancini has shown a ton of promise so far in his career. He needs more reps and ice time to develop in the player he can be.
"The Hancock, Michigan native saw game action in Game 3 of the season against the St. Louis Blues. Mancini appeared in five games this season, and although he was kept off the scoresheet, his impact was felt in the defensive zone. Known as a two-way defenceman, Mancini stood up for his teammates against the Washington Capitals when he dropped the gloves for the first time in his NHL career with a tough customer in Brandon Duhaime."-Cole

Hopefully Mancini can make an immediate impact in Abbotsford and show the whole organization that he belongs in the NHL. It was clear during camp that he was ready, even if the head office can't recognize it.
