A position change could potentially be on the horizon for Vancouver Canucks forward Lukas Reichel in the near future due to injured players returning and the club signing David Kampf over the weekend.

With the Vancouver Canucks in desperate need of some help down the middle partly due to injuries, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin went out onto the trade market and acquired German centerman Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
"Lukas is an exciting young player and someone we feel can help improve our forward group. He is a talented playmaker who can create scoring opportunities with his offensive ability. We like the way he moves on the ice and his overall work ethic and feel our coaching staff can help him become a better and more consistent hockey player." Allvin said.

Reichel is 12 games into his tenure as a Vancouver Canuck and with just one assist, along with a 39.4 faceoff percentage under his belt, it looks like a position change might be needed to unlock his potential.

Position change may be on the horizon for Vancouver Canucks' Lukas Reichel

In a recent article for The Province, Ben Kuzma believes that with the Canucks signing David Kampf to a one-year, $1.1 million contract, it could spell the end of Lukas Reichel's time at center.
Kuzma says that by placing Reichel on the wing, he will have less responsibilities and could even lead to an increase in offensive production, if put with the right players.
"And, perhaps, the arrival of free-agent pivot David Kampf on Monday and shifting Reichel to the wing may be the solution.

There are less responsibilities when playing the wall and more chances to drive the net, as opposed to being a two-way fixture in the middle required to do more tough stuff at both ends of the ice and also have a strong faceoff presence." Kuzma said.

If the Vancouver Canucks can find a way to get Lukas Reichel going, that'll be a big boost for the bottom-six, who the team needs more production out in the days and weeks ahead, with those making up last night's third and fourth lines scoring just 15 of the team's 62 goals this season.
We'll have to wait and see what Adam Foote has in store for the team's lineup ahead of tonight's game against the Florida Panthers, but with David Kampf expected to suit up, it won't surprise anyone if Lukas Reichel finally shifts to the wing.
