Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes recently opened up regarding the Elias Pettersson-J.T. Miller feud that stole headlines across the NHL last season.

One of the major storylines in the National Hockey League throughout the first half of the 2024-25 season was the feud between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, which officially came to an end in late-January when Patrik Allvin traded the latter to the New York Rangers for a package that included Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini and other assets.
In the months since Miller's trade, some of his former teammates have spoken about that feud including defenseman Tyler Myers, as well as goaltender Thatcher Demko, but on Wednesday, it was captain Quinn Hughes' turn to discuss what went on between the two.

Wednesday was a busy day for Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, who represented the team at the NHL's North American Players Media Tour in Las Vegas and was quite popular among the media, especially for when it came to his own future in Vancouver and rumors surrounding the possibility of him joining his brother Jack and Luke.
Among the other topics Quinn Hughes was asked about was the feud between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, with the team's captain saying that it was a distraction last year and was proud of himself because he tried to help both of his teammates.
"Yeah, it's tough. I was proud of myself just because I tried to help out those guys, and also, there was a lot of nonsense on the side, but my game never dipped. I always felt like I was there for my team. If anything, my game got better just because I knew we needed wins. That's the main thing I could control, is my game. But obviously it was a distraction." Hughes said to Pierre LeBrun of TSN & The Athletic.

He added, "Jim and Patrick did what they had to do - what they thought would help our room - and I commend them for that because no one wants to trade Millsy, who was one of our terrific player in the league for a long time, but they did what they felt they had to do, and I think our team should be in a position now where there's no distractions, we've got a good coaching staff and hopefully (goalie Thatcher Demko is) healthy and we'll be ready to go."

With a fresh slate ahead of them, the Vancouver Canucks are determined to bounce back this season, with the drama and inconsistency that hurt their chances last year now in the past.
Hughes and the Canucks will begin their quest for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs next Thursday when training camp opens in Penticton, British Columbia.
