The Maple Leafs have had their fair share of injuries to deal with throughout the season, especially on their defensive core. Now, everything points towards the veteran defenseman's career coming to an end.

Jake Muzzin has been out for most of this season. He played only four games this year and 47 last year. When they first announced his injury earlier in the season, here's what Dubas had to say :
"He's a father of two young children, a husband. We have to make sure we're doing right by him. As important as he is as a player, his health is paramount."

The renowned Chris Jonhson from TSN Overdrive talked about the future of the defenseman and it's not showing anything positive :
"My understanding is he has a follow-up appointment in California with the doctors he saw there," he said. "It is at some point early next week, and then there will be a clear direction. It would be a surprise if he was able to come back and make an attempt at returning. He has stayed very close with the team and has been with them on the road, but I don't believe it will be in the cards that he will be back healthy and playing again."

Jake Muzzin is a veteran of 12 seasons in the NHL, a Stanley Cup winner, and a very well-respected veteran across the league. While it's not impossible he comes back to the NHL, it appears that Muzzin has reached a point where his health and his future carry more importance than his ability to play the game.
We wish the very best to Muzzin and his family.
