With eight days now until the NHL's trade deadline, it appears one of the biggest names available has made his decision.
San Jose Sharks defenceman Erik Karlsson is the most coveted defenceman heading into the deadline and has had numerous teams interested, but he's yet to make a deal or really discuss his intentions until now.
According to Hockey Insider Chris Johnston, Karlsson is willing to waive his no trade-clause to join Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
Clearly the Oilers are still interested in acquiring Erik Karlsson. But for this trade to happen the Oilers will have to clear some salary cap space, along with getting the Sharks to retain salary and possibly add a third team to help retain salary, like the Toronto Maple Leafs did to acquire Ryan O'Reilly.
There's no doubt Karlsson is the player the Oilers desperately need, the question is can the Oilers' General Manager Ken Holland be able to make it happen? We'll see...
