The New York Rangers believe they have a Stanley Cup contending team this year and rightfully so. They have been a Eastern Conference power house most of this season and were already loaded with talent, before acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko from the St. Louis Blues.
The move was a bit of a surprise, since there were numerous rumors that the Rangers were going to acquire Patrick Kane. However, according to Rangers insider Larry Brooks, the Rangers could possibly still get Kane.
Brooks reveals the Rangers have been trying to trade away Vitali Kravtsov, ever since his trade request. Brooks would even suggest the Rangers General Manager Chris Drury could possibly place Kravtsov on waivers to get enough salary to get the Blackhawks to retain salary to make a deal.
Now, let's say the Canucks General Manager who already said they would make a deal as a third party team to help retain salary for assets. What if they join the Rangers and Blackhawks take Kravtsov and possibly a pick to retain salary for a Kane trade and make off like bandits? Getting a 23-year-old skilled winger for their retool.
