A Vancouver Canucks target is reportedly on the verge of being traded by the New York Rangers, according to National Hockey League insider Frank Seravalli.

The National Hockey League is set to enter arguably the busiest period of the year, with the Entry Draft and Free Agency less than three weeks away and it always brings plenty of trades, sometimes involving big names.
Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford is hoping to be aggressive this summer to improve the team's forward group, hopefully by adding a second line centerman and possibly a top-six winger, with numerous targets being identified in recent weeks.

While the NHL usually doesn't like trades during the Stanley Cup Final because it takes attention away from the two teams battling for hockey's greatest trophy, it appears that a deal is in the works involving a Vancouver Canucks target.
On Tuesday night, National Hockey League insider Frank Seravalli shared on social media that the New York Rangers and Anaheim Ducks are working on a trade that would send former first-round pick Chris Kreider to Orange County.
"Sources say #NYR and #NHLDucks are in advanced discussions on a deal that would send Chris Kreider to Orange County.

No semantics: there is NO DEAL at this moment in time.

But there is interest - and a framework. Both teams had other irons in the fire today. We'll see on Wed." Seravalli said.
Kreider, a native of Boxford, Massachusetts, has spent his entire National Hockey League career with the New York Rangers after being selected in the first round by them back in 2009.
The 34-year-old has been linked to numerous teams since December, when reports circulated about his availability, and among those that reportedly had interest in him was the Vancouver Canucks.
According to Seravalli, talks between Anaheim and New York included Ducks forward prospect Carey Terrance, who they drafted in the second round in 2023 and has spent the last four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Erie Otters.
"The most recent discussions centered on Ducks prospect Carey Terrance, an upstate New York native and 2023 second-round pick, heading to the Rangers in a swap that would see the Ducks take on Kreider's contract in-full. Kreider, 34, has two years remaining on his contract at $6.5 million per year. He was ranked No. 2 on Daily Faceoff's most recent Trade Targets board." Seravalli said.

We'll have to wait and see where things go over the course of the day and if this deal happens to get completed, adding a veteran, leadership piece to their dressing room, like Chris Kreider, will be a big addition for the Anaheim Ducks.
