After retiring from professional hockey eight years ago due to a medical condition called malignant hyperthermia, former Vancouver Canucks first-rounder Cody Hodgson is making a comeback.

It was first reported on Saturday night by Elliotte Friedman that Hodgson was wanting to return to professional hockey and now he is, as it was revealed on Wednesday that he's agreed to a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals.

"Cody Hodgson, 33, has been added to the @mkeadmirals on a PTO. He has 328 games of experience in the NHL & last played in Nashville during the 15-16 season (39 GP). #Preds "

Hodgson, a native of Toronto, was selected tenth overall by Vancouver in 2008 and went on to appear in 71 games for them between the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, putting up 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) before being traded to the Buffalo Sabres.

It's great to see that Hodgson is returning to professional hockey and it'll be an awesome story if he's able to find his way back to the NHL at some point.
