The Canucks laid their hands on the Swede winger Jonathan Lekkerimaki. Viewed as one of the top snipers of his draft class, he had a deceiving first season that ultimately led to an injury that kept him out of order until the playoffs.

BACK IN SHAPE: KEEPING UP THE HOT STREAK

Lekkerimaki was outstanding during the 2023 Hockey Allsvenkan playoffs and he hasn't let up ever since. The forward graduated to the SHL this year and he's been a threat ever since, he now has three goals in just as many games and he's about to break records currently held by hockey's all-time greats like Peter Forsberg and former Canuck Markus Naslund.

' As the Swedish announcer says in clip the last 2 Junior age players to score in 3 straight games to start SHL Season was in 1992 when Peter Forsberg & Markus Naslund did it with Modo, Lekkerimaki is on 🔥🇸🇪''

Lekkerimaki commented on the subject and even revealed that Forsberg's been an idol of his since since the very beginning of his career:

«It is very fun to be compared to them. I'm just trying to do my best and then we'll see how far it goes. Peter Forsberg has been my idol. Being compared to him is a lot of fun.»

It's become quite clear that Patrik Allvin is very fond of his Swedes. However, it's hard to blame them, Lekkerimaki is developing into an absolute offensive threat, Tom Willander is viewed as one of the top two-way Defenseman of his draft. Then there are both Elias Pettersson.
