A former Vancouver Canucks goaltender has officially put pen-to-paper on a deal to return to North America after having his contract terminated overseas.
There's been quite a bit of activity over the last month involving former members of the Vancouver Canucks organization in Europe, most recently forward Markus Granlund inking a multi-year extension in Switzerland, while David Booth signed with the Fife Flyers of the EIHL after a dominant performance in the Australian Ice Hockey League over the summer.
After spending his entire professional hockey career in North America, former Vancouver Canucks goaltender Louis Domingue decided he wanted a new challenge and signed a one-year deal in the KHL with Sibir Novosibirsk, but after 11 games, his time with the club came to a close.

After a tough start to his time with Sibir Novosibirsk where he had an 0-9-0 record along with a 3.83 goals against average and an .892 save percentage, Domingue had his contract terminated by the club and became a free agent.

Nearly a month after having his contract terminated, the Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec native has found himself a new home for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
In a press release on Monday, the American Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers, affiliate of the Florida Panthers, announced that they've agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Louis Domingue.
"The Charlotte Checkers have signed goaltender Louis Domingue to a one-year, one-way AHL contract.
The 33-year-old netminder appeared in one game as a member of the Vancouver Canucks, which came on March 1st, 2020 against the Columbus Blue Jackets where he allowed four goals and made 30 saves in a 5-3 defeat.
Domingue's debut with the Charlotte Checkers could come as early as Friday afternoon as they host the Toronto Marlies for a 1 p.m. PT (4 p.m. local) puck drop.
