A positive update was shared recently by a Swedish coach who has been working on the ice with Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson throughout the summer.

After a difficult 2024-25 season, one where he only registered 45 points, Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson has his sights on a bounce back year and told NHL.com during Sweden's Olympic Orientation Camp earlier this month that he is "out for revenge".
"I haven't thought about it, but for myself it's revenge. I'm not happy with last season. I'm trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I'm trying my best, but also trying to get better." Pettersson said.

With the offseason winding down and Vancouver's training camp opening in less than three weeks, Elias Pettersson is getting ready to return to North America for the upcoming season and in a social media post on Thursday, a coach that he was working with this summer was full of praise for the Swedish forward and believes that he is back.

Swedish coach gives positive update on Elias Pettersson's offseason training

If the Vancouver Canucks are going to have any success this season as they look towards a return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they're going to need Elias Pettersson to return to his old form.
It might be a bit unrealistic to ask Pettersson to go from 45 points to 100+ this season, but if he's able to play at around or slightly above a point-per-game pace, it'll go a long way in helping Vancouver achieve their goals this year.
In order to return to that aforementioned "old form", Pettersson has been hard at work training on the ice overseas in his home nation of Sweden and has been doing so alongside skills coach Daniel Broberg.
Broberg shared a lengthy and thoughtful post on social media on Thursday about his time working with Elias Pettersson, saying that the Canucks forward is now physically stronger than ever before.
"Elias is one of the most complex, exciting but also most elusive players I have ever come into contact with. A top athlete combined with a great artist. He can do things out on the ice that no other player in the entire world can do. Things that are almost difficult to discover and understand sometimes. Challenging Elias as a skills coach is difficult. I feel a tension, almost a little nervousness, before all our sessions together as I know that I am facing a challenging situation as a coach. I have to deliver at my top level. And I love that nerve.

And this summer has been awesome! Elias is stronger physically than ever before but above all there is now a balance between his physical and technical skill set. One of the strongest memories from our summer together is when his hip and upper body «clicked». With that, so many pieces fell into place. He takes on speed and power with smoothness. His flow is on 🔥!

I'm really excited and I can't wait to see you in action this winter. Thank you for a great summer @_eliaspettersson 💥⭐️

Play hard and enjoy the game this season." Broberg said on Instagram.
It certainly feels like there's a ton of positivity around Elias Pettersson this summer and that he is telling the truth that he wants to be better for the club and his teammates.
With training camp and preseason games less than a month away, it's safe to say that all Vancouver Canucks fans are very excited to see Elias Pettersson back on the ice and look forward to seeing what he has in store for the 2025-26 campaign.
