LATEST | Injuries unknown as railing collapses during event at Rogers Arena
On Saturday night, the UFC returned to Canada for the first time in four years with an event being held at Rogers Arena, home of the Vancouver Canucks.
During the event, as one of the fighters was walking out, fans were reaching over a railing to try and give him a high-five. But then a scary incident took place. As the fans were reaching over, the railing collapsed and caused multiple injuries and people crashed to the floor. The most scary part of the video below is the three security guards who appear to get crushed by the railing and fans.
Following the event, Rogers Arena released a statement regarding the collapse of the railing.
"The safety of our fans is our #1 priority at Rogers Arena. At tonight's UFC event, as fans leaned over to greet the fighters a railing fell down. Our arena staff worked quickly to relocate fans in the affected area and no serious injuries were reported. Venue security and staff remained on-site throughout the rest of the evening to ensure everyone's safety." Rogers Arena said in a statement.
This was definitely a scary situation for all of those involved and hopefully we never see this happen ever again, no matter if it's a UFC event or at a Canucks game next season.
