A former Vancouver Canucks defenseman shared recently what what he believes a bounce back season should look like for Swedish forward Elias Pettersson, and he needs to hear what he has to say.

The 2025-26 season is two months away and if there's no one that's more motivated to prove everyone wrong than Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson, after a very disappointing 2024-25 campaign.
Pettersson opened up about his struggles earlier this summer and recently shared in an interview with NHL.com in Sweden that he's "out for revenge" this coming year.
"I haven't thought about it, but for myself it's revenge. I'm not happy with last season." Pettersson said.

He added, "I'm trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I'm trying my best, but also trying to get better."

If the Vancouver Canucks want to have any success this coming season, as they look to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they're going to need a big year from Elias Pettersson.
In the last three seasons, the 26-year-old has gone from 102 points to 89 and then just 45 this past year and with him earning $11.6 million, the Vancouver Canucks need him to be at minimum a point-per-game player.
During a recent appearance on Sekeres and Price, former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Frank Corrado shared what he thinks a bounce back year should look like for Elias Pettersson.
Corrado said that if Elias Pettersson is able to remain healthy for the entire 2025-26 NHL season, he wants to see the Sundsvall, Sweden native put up at least 70+ points, saying that it's a reasonable goal for him heading into the new campaign.
"Give me 70 plus points. Like 70 to 75 points and I think that's on the conservative side of things, but that's based on how poorly things went for him last year. So if he's healthy and he's available for more games, which is obviously going to be a big thing for him, I'm not sitting here saying like he's got to go from 45 points to being an 82, 85 point player because it's a big jump from where things were last year." Corrado said.

He added, "As much as maybe he wasn't truly healthy, sure that's part of it, he also didn't play great. So you're trying to take your game, you know, how many levels higher than it was last year. I just think it's a reasonable expectation to say that this guy, based on his skill set and if he's having this really good summer, can be a 70-to-75 point player and build back up to being a guy who's basically an automatic going to be around a point-per-game or maybe more than that, if things really go well for him.

I think 70 points is very much within his wheelhouse. Like that's a realistic, attainable goal that isn't reaching for the clouds."
There's no question that Elias Pettersson should be able to reach 70 points this coming season, if he remains healthy, especially if he's on a line with Jake DeBrusk and Brock Boeser, which will likely be the case to start the year.
A line of DeBrusk-Pettersson-Boeser should be able to drive the Vancouver Canucks' offense and even contribute upwards of 30-35 percent of the team's goals next season, but again, that'll depend on the health of all three players.
