The Real Reason Why the Vancouver Canucks Traded Mark Friedman for Nothing

General Manager Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks have been busy over the past couple of weeks making two major trades in the same night, one involving
J.T. Miller, and then competing a minor one of Friday involving defensemen Mark Friedman.
Why Vancouver Canucks' Mark Friedman was really traded to the Nashville Predators
When it was announced on Friday afternoon that the Canucks were trading 29-year-old d-man Mark Friedman to the Predators for «future considerations», many wondered what this meant and why they gave up him for so little.
For those who do not know, future considerations means that Nashville will make a trade at some point, and when this occurs, they will send Vancouver an asset in return, which could be either a player or a draft pick.
future considerations always have to be fulfilled. It could be as simple as swapping seventh-round picks in the future or sending an AHL-caliber player back to the team at some point. Generally speaking, those future considerations don't have any impact at the NHL level. - Daniel Wagner
The real reason he was traded was not related to any drama or issues but for the fact that the veteran would have most likely never suited up for the Canucks again.
I'm just two games with the Canucks this season, he was given a small role where it appeared that head coach Rick Tocchet did not trust him to be a key contributor.
It did not help that in his last game which came back at the end of January, he achieved a -3 plus/minus rating in the disastrous 5-1 loss to the Boston Bruins.
Since joking the Canucks organization in the 2023-2024 season, he only appeared in 28 games, «accumulating» just one assist.
