A National Hockey League insider has shared another Eastern Conference team that may have interest in Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes via trade.
After a subpar start to the 2025-26 season, Vancouver Canucks fans woke up to some pretty big news on Tuesday morning as Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the club is listening to offers on veteran players, with the exception of captain Quinn Hughes.
"According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that - in an effort to get younger - they are willing to listen to offers on 'veteran players.'" Friedman said.
While Quinn Hughes is off the table for now, there's no question that once the calendar flips to 2026 and we inch closer to the trade deadline, the Canucks might have no choice but to listen to offers on him, especially if they feel they don't have a good chance at extending their captain long-term next summer, with more teams than just the New Jersey Devils likely to be in the mix.
NHL insider shares which other Eastern Conference team may have interest in Quinn Hughes
During an appearance on Oilers Now on Monday, National Hockey League insider Frank Seravalli shared that one team that would love a chance to land Quinn Hughes is the Philadelphia Flyers.
Seravalli on Flyers interest in Quinn Hughes:
"I think they're one team that would be salivating to try and get their hands on Quinn Hughes but they're far from alone."
The Flyers, who have the ninth-best prospect pool in the NHL according to Daily Faceoff, certainly have the assets required to get a Quinn Hughes trade done and there's an interesting wrinkle to this that could make them one of the favourites to land the Canucks captain.
Back in May, just weeks after leaving the Vancouver Canucks, the Flyers hired Rick Tocchet as their new Head Coach and with Quinn Hughes having a strong relationship with his former bench boss during his time in the Lower Mainland, having an opportunity to play for him once again would likely make Philadelphia an attractive landing spot.
We'll have to wait and see where things go in the months to come, but rumors about Quinn Hughes' future will undoubtedly start ramping up after Christmas and it's going to be interesting to hear which teams show interest in him ahead of the deadline on Friday, March 6th at 12 p.m. PT.
